Struggling with a historic spinal cord injury, Steve had previously relied on crutches to get around but worsening of his condition, which is inoperable, meant he was facing the prospect of becoming a full time wheelchair user.
Feeling daunted by this prospect Steve came in to Launceston with his wife Jen and spoke to Kirsty. Kirsty was able to put them both at ease and guided them through the process, taking time to understand Steve’s condition, physical abilities and lifestyle to find the right solution.
Following his assessment he opted for a Quickie Nitrum manual active chair which was supplied with an Etac Axiom G Cushion. Steve was able to use his NHS wheelchair voucher towards the cost of his wheelchair.
Steve and Jen both commented on how straightforward the process had been and how Kirsty had made a difficult situation much easier (and actually quite fun!). This was reiterated in the lovely review they recently left for us:
“After being fitted for a manual chair by the NHS and it being completely the wrong thing, we took the plunge and popped into the Team at Unique mobility Launceston. From the minute we arrived Steve’s needs were listened to and Kirsty ( who was relatively new to taking measurements etc) was expertly guided through the process of building the right Active chair for Steve. A great and positive experience in a difficult time was made much easier by the team at Launceston.”
Steve and Jen are soon to be travelling to Australia to visit family so we have given the chair a pre-holiday service. We wish them all the best with their travels!
