At Unique Mobility we love finding out what a difference our work makes to the people we work with and their families.
Wayne in our Plymouth Store recently worked with Archie and his family to specify and supply a wheelchair. Archie was able to get funding for his chair through the charity the Make Way Foundation who provide funding for children who need a wheelchair.
Archie’s wheelchair is a Ki Mobility Little Wave which was chosen for its ability to grow with the child by being adjustable. Archie’s mum Gemma wanted a stroller style handle to make the wheelchair easy to push, whilst Archie opted for flashing lights because they look cool and he wanted to be able to show his friends. Compared to the NHS wheelchair Archie had previously been supplied with, his Little Wave is incredibly lightweight. Wayne also specified a flip-under footplate to allow for easier transfers when switching between the chair and his frame.
Archie’s new wheels will enable him to have greater independence to play with his friends now he can propel himself and will also make participating with nursery activities much easier too. We loved reading Archie’s Mum’s recent post via their Facebook page and its fantastic to see what a difference his new wheels are already making for the whole family!
This is now the third wheelchair we have been able to supply for children through funding from the Make Way Foundation and we look forward to collaborating with them again in future.
We are also supporting Matthew one of the trustees from the Foundation with his 300 mile bike ride in aid of the Foundation and Shooting Stars Children's Hospices from 22-24th June ending at our Plymouth Showroom. Keep an eye on our socials for more updates and details of their Just Giving Page.
